Selling a property – 10% of offers stay on the market for less than 7 days
Currently, around 10% of homes in Portugal are being sold in less than 7 days, according to data from Idealista.
One of the biggest doubts that most homeowners have when they put their property up for sale is how long it will take for the sale to go through.
This time will depend on various factors, such as the location, size and price of the property.
As a rule, homes on the market that meet families’ budgets and needs tend to sell faster.
In July, 10% of the houses advertised on Idealista were sold in less than a week, reflecting the high demand for real estate.
Around 22% of the homes to buy were on the market between one week and one month, 28% between one and three months and 9% for more than a year, shows the analysis published by Idealista.
Of the residential properties that sell in less than a week, taking into account the length of time the ads remain on Idealista, by district capital, Faro stands out with the highest percentage, with 30% of the houses selling in that period.
Viana do Castelo (23%), Portalegre (18%), Aveiro (15%), Coimbra (14%), Funchal (14%), Porto (14%) and Leiria (10%) follow in the list of cities with the highest percentage of express house sales. Below the national average are Ponta Delgada (9%), Guarda (8%), Braga (8%) and Setúbal (7%).
This data underlines the regional differences in the real estate market, with some district capitals such as Faro and Viana do Castelo seeing most of their homes sold quickly, contrasting with the slowness in other areas such as Santarém and Castelo Branco.
